Four Winds, Mrs. Haddock visits and The Hour of Code!

What a busy Wednesday we had!
We started our day with a visit from Ms. Maura and Mrs. Corrigan for Four Winds. The topic this month was rocks and minerals. We learned about igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.

Playing "no peeking" to feel what different kinds of rocks feel like. They were smooth, bumpy, tiny and large.

Comparing our rocks. Ms. Bre was surprised that her rock was blue!

A fun puppet show where we met Granny granite, Sandy Standstone and Nora Gneiss. Then we used magnifying glasses to inspect some rocks and minerals.

We learned that some rocks can float - pumice!

After lunch, we had our weekly visit from Mrs.Haddock. Our learning about rocks continued when she read us the book "A Rock is Lively". We played another version of  "no peeking" when Mrs. Haddock shared some rocks from her collection. Then she gave us all a river rock to help us feel calm.

After that, Caroline Patrie visited us for the national Hour of Code. We learned how to write code to move a robot and light up squares. We had so much fun!

We wrapped up our day by building a snowman together!
